Back to Uni, Back to blogging...

I'm now in my third week of my FINAL YEAR of University. I can safely say I am already bricking it. Trying to find my way through work, dissertation, writing for Spark*, finding a part-time job and finding an actual real life proper job for after I graduate is pretty overwhelming to say the least. Still, what else did I expect from this year?! Anyway, after a very long summer break from blogging duties, I am returning.

Over the summer, I visited Japan for a couple of weeks, and I'm currently, very slowly.... uploading photos here if you're interested:

I also went to London for a week's work experience with Top of the Pops magazine, which actually turned into two weeks (bar the last Friday, when I wasn't needed) when they asked me to come back. I really enjoyed my time there, and if I get a chance at Christmas or Easter, I'd love to go back and do some more work for them. I also got my name in the magazine several times, which excited me probably more than it should. It also caused my Nan to firmly believe that I am definitely going to be famous. Positive thinking and all that! Here's said name in said magazine:

I also moved house during the summer, and obviously spent a lot of time with friends and family. Overall, it turned out to be a very hectic but really good summer than went far too quickly for my liking. Back into hardworking mode (kind of) now. Next few blog posts will be of much more interest - a couple of album reviews and single review. If work allows, I'll try and keep this blog as updated as it should be. Fingers crossed.

Sax.co.uk

Just doing a bit of plugging on my sister's behalf. She went to college to learn how to be a woodwind instrument repairer and designer, and now works at Sax.co.uk in Crowborough, East Sussex (and London once a week) as a saxophone repairer. She absolutely loves it, and the Crowborough shop was actually on South East Today recently thanks to Yolanda Brown. Anyway, I'm basically here to plug both shops. The Crowborough branch is HUGE, and is located on Brooklands Park, Farningham Road. The London branch is located on the famous Denmark Street, and has seen many famous faces in there (many of which I'm pretty jealous of)!

They've got a YouTube channel too, where they showcase saxophones (and their saxophone skills). Here's a taster:

So if you're ever in need of saxophone repairs, or fancy buying yourself a saxophone (I hope you're rich), pop in to sax.co.uk!

(www.sax.co.uk is their website if you're interested).

Challenge

If you go into my room, you'll quickly find out that I buy A LOT of CDs. I spend as much money on CDs as I do on clothes, and that's saying something (mainly screaming 'THIS IS WHY YOU'RE IN YOUR OVERDRAFT', but I try to drown that voice out). As is the norm these days, the album quickly hits my iPod and the CD goes straight in the CD rack. For no specific reason, other than perhaps laziness, I never really make time to properly sit down and listen to my new purchases (always plural, always). Yes, in time, I do hear all the songs, but once I've listened once I tend to move on and rarely revisit. So I've decided to change this. I'm not sure it's really a challenge, 'cos it's gonna be quite fun, but I couldn't think of another way to describe it.

In the next few weeks, I will go through my music collection and take the time to listen to all those albums I've been too lazy/busy/whatever to listen to properly. I know I've got some real gems in there, so I refuse to let my money go to waste. I will report back with a review each time, which in itself is good 'cos I feel like I haven't written a review in aaaages.

'Til next time...

GLASTONBURY

Today I am VERY excited as I'm off to Glastonbury tomorrow!! It's my first ever one, so I'm a little nervous, but I'm sooo excited! I'll be sure to bring back plenty of reviews and photos, no doubt about that!
If you're going as well, enjoy it!! And if you're not, I'll try not to bang on too much about it...

Tumblr

Through my complete boredom today, I have decided to start a Tumblr. I'm going to try and use it mainly for photos and audio, to make sure this gets used for mainly writing. There's a link on the right if you scroll down (just above Twitter). Take a gander!

Oh, and I have moved the Blog Archive to the bottom of the page. Felt the right hand side was getting a big clogged!

ROCKLOUDERRRRR

Haven't written on here for a while....

Since I last wrote, I've been given the opportunity to write for an online music website called http://www.rocklouder.co.uk/
So far, I've written two reviews- one single and one album. Just waiting to hear back from the editor and hopefully they'll get published :)

I really hope this is going to give me the chance to write more features, rather than just reviews, because that seems to be all I've done so far. I have done an interview with Peter Tatchell for my school magazine, but as this was a joint effort with someone else, it's not really fair to publish it as my work...But I'm not complaining either way!

I'll put the two reviews for rocklouder up once they've all been cleared...
